Opening Day on Friday marks the start of what the A’s hope to be a memorable season

The A’s start there season on Friday vs King Felix and the Mariners at 705 PM. The A’s have a great shot at making the playoffs for the first time since 2006.It will be a tight 3 team race with the A’s, Rangers and Angels all with there strengths. I am a huge A’s fan with high hopes and i think we can win the west. gotta have high hopes as a fan. I guess we we will  just have to wait and see in September. good luck all, and lets PLAY BALL!

Mariners rout A’s 10-2

The A’s lost to the Mariners 10-2 behind Justin Smoak’s monster day at the plate for Seattle. Smoak had 4 RBI’s and 2 hits. Guillermo Moscoso started for Oakland giving up 4 runs. The A’s had good days at the plate from Mark Ellis and Ryan Sweeney. Bobby Cramer also gave up 2 runs and the A’s spring record is now 6-9. The a’s play the Colorado Rockies tomorrow in Phoenix. A’s destroy Dodgers but lose to Brewers.

On a split squad Friday we had Gio Gonzalez winning against the dodgers 9-2 and Tyson Ross losing against the Brewers. Coco Crisp and Josh Willingham had great days at the plate against Los Angeles. Gio Gonzalez got the win giving up 1 run while striking out three over 4.1 innings. In the Milwaukee game Josh Donaldson and Michael Taylor both had good games but Josh Outman blew the game in the 9th. the A’s spring record is now 6-8 and the A’s play the Mariners on the road tomorrow at 3:05 PM ET

A’s tie Royals 4-4

The A’s tied the Royals 4-4 after scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Kurt Suzuki hit a homer in the first to get things started. The big story of this game was Andrew Bailey’s first spring appearance. He pitched 1 inning with no hits no runs and 2 strikeouts. Brett Anderson started giving up 2 runs. Grant Balfour pitched as well and gave up a run.The A’s record is now 5-7-1 and they have a split squad game tomorrow one at home against the Dodgers and one on the road against the Brewers. 

A’s get demolished by Texas 9-2.

The A’s lost to the Rangers on the road today 9-2. Dallas Braden got roughed up with 5 runs in the first as his spring record is now 0-3. The Rangers were on fire swinging the bat and pitched very well too. The two lone runs for Oakland came on Home Runs by David DeJesus and Landon Powell as the A’s are now 5-7.Brandon McCarthy and Jerry Blevins did not have the best of days either, giving up a combined 4 runs.The A’s play the Split squad Royals tomorrow at Phoenix. 

A’s defeat Padres 6-2 behind LaRoche’s big day.

The A’s beat the Padres today at Phoenix Minucipial Stadium behind Andy LaRoche’s big day. LaRoche had 2 runs 2 hits and 2 RBI’s in the win. Trevor Cahill had his best outing of the spring pitching 4 innings and only allowing 1 hit. Michael Taylor also had a good day having 1 run 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Brad Ziegler picked up the win for Oakland as now there spring record is 5-6. Cliff Pennington made his spring debut today following problems with his shoulder. He had 3 at bats with zero hits. The A’s play on the road tomorrow against Texas. 

Mariners beat A’s 6-3.

Felix Hernandez was back on the mound today for the Mariners. But he almost was out even longer when a line drive up the middle by David DeJesus just missed his head.He struck ot 3 and had 53 pitches. Guillermo Mosoco started for Oakland allowing one earned run in three innings pitched. Andy LaRoche hit a 2 run HR in the ninth as the A’s fell 6-3. The A’s  play in Phoenix against the Padres tomorrow. 

Andrew Bailey is expected to be back in action on Thursday.

A’s beat Brewers, Lose to Padres

On a split squad Sunday with half the Team in Phoenix and half in Peoria, the A’s won there home game but lost there away game. They beat the Brewers 5-4 while losing to the Padres 7-6. In the Milwaukee game, Gio Gonzalez and Tyson Ross both had three innings of scoreless ball. While Coco Crisp tripled and singled for Oakland. Meanwhile in the San Diego game, Mat Latos was pulled after giving up three runs on two hits and gave up a walk. Willingham, Matsui and Kouzmanoff each had an RBI. Bobby Cramer pitched well however the A’s bullpen was sloppy after that. Heath Bell of the Padres picked up the save for San Diego. The A’s play at home against the Mariners tomorrow. 

A’s get back on track, shut out Giants 6-0.

The A’s beat the defending champion Giants 6-0 Saturday to get their third win of the spring, Brett Anderson had a nice start shutting out the Giants over three innings with 5 K’s. Joey Devine and Brad Ziegler also pitched.Coco Crisp had 2 RBI and Michael Choice did as well. The A’s record is now 3-4 and have finally got there pitching together.Jai Miller and Josh Donaldson each had 1 hit and 2 runs respectively. The A’s pitching held the Giants to 6 hits all game. San Francisco also committed 4 fielding errors. The A’s have split squad games tomorrow against the Brewers in Phoenix and against the Padres in Peoria. 

A’s lose to Rangers 6-3.

The A’s lost to the Rangers Friday 6-3 after Kevin Kouzmanoff’s 3 run blast in the first inning. Dallas Braden was the pitcher giving up four runs in three innings as his spring record is now 0-2. The A’s had a quiet day at the plate not scoring a run after the homer. Some pitchers in this game were Brian Fuentes, Brandon McCarthy and Grant Balfour. McCarthy gave up a run while Balfour and Fuentes were score less. The A’s record is now 2-4 with 2 straight Losses. The A’s play the defending champion San Francisco Giants tomorrow in Phoenix. Gio is pitching tomorrow. Go Oakland!!
